I’m so excited to be able to finally welcome you to the Adelaide Baby Bargains website! This is my first blog so bear with me but I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy the fun stories, not to mention the valuable advice I share with you all along the way! As always, your thoughts are important and I welcome your feedback and opinions.
Adelaide Baby Bargains has special significance for me given it was ’born’ whilst on maternity leave after having had my first child last year. I was determined to find an online opportunity in the baby and kids market that could somehow help other mums to make life just that bit easier but just wasn’t sure in what form this would take. With my own stockpile of baby goods to sell, I decided there had to be a better and cheaper way to buy and sell my excess baby goods than listing on online auction sites with endless fees eroding the proceeds. Initially setting up an album on Facebook to promote to my friends, my ideas soon grew into the concept of a ‘fan page’ to share with other mums in Adelaide. I’d never paid much attention before so it’s was certainly a work in progress but it was the beginning of something special and that’s when Adelaide Baby Bargains was born! Very quickly the word spread and ABB soon became the buzz amongst mums in Adelaide.
Within a month over 2,000 Adelaide mums and dads had joined the page. Wow, we’re really onto something here! The word was out and everyone was telling everyone about this page called Adelaide Baby Bargains! I was blown away at how quickly people were joining the page and how many people knew about the site - Facebook was just amazing! Welcome to viral marketing Belinda!!
With user numbers growing steadily to over 4,000 fans by June, the concept of a website to better serve our mums became more and more appealing. By now we had about 800 photos added per week and the page was getting too big for it’s own good! I wanted to create something with much more functionality and Facebook had provided us with the platform to launch the concept and test the waters. BINGO!
It’s taken some work but we’re finally here and I’m thrilled to be able to welcome you to the Adelaide Baby Bargains website. From our humble beginnings on Facebook, to a fully blown online marketplace – we are delivering the mums of Adelaide a quality, FREE, and most importantly local service in which to buy and sell baby and kids goods they no longer want or need.
So feel free to have a browse around, check out the forums, find yourself a bargain or two in the classifieds and be sure to watch this space as we embark on something VERY special and the first website of its kind in Adelaide!
